Welcome

WELCOME TO THE CHURCH OF ST. GENEVIEVE

The Church of St. Genevieve's was founded as a parish of the Archdiocese of St. Paul in 1853.

As disciples of Jesus Christ, parishioners are called to worship God, to participate in life-long faith formation and to serve God in our communities.

Fr. Greg's Notes

Dear Friends,

I really appreciate the current bible study I’m leading.  We are studying the four accounts of the passion and resurrection of Jesus.  All four gospels are different.  The authors of the gospels had different viewpoints of the same situations.

The gospel of John takes four chapters to talk about Jesus’ death.  Not only how Jesus lived and died but what he talked about.  In John’s gospel, Jesus talks about lifting everyone to himself when he dies.  Jesus plans to take us with him to heaven.  In our creed, we pray that I look forward to the resurrection.  I look forward to the resurrection because I know a lot of people already there!

When Jesus died, he struggled.  He did not find it easy to do his Father’s will.  He was tempted.  He had to learn to trust God and because he did trust, he learned obedience and thus became an example to all of us who are struggling.  We continue to tell the stories of Jesus’ death; we continue to relate to what he had to learn.  It is very important to realize how Jesus died.  He died with trust.  “Into your hands, I commend my spirit.”  (Luke 23:46).

We need to trust.

Peace,
Fr. Greg
